| Laboratory Construction |
| The University has three university-level experimental centers: The Social Science and Humanities Training Center, The Bio-Chemistry Experimental Center, and The Engineering Training Center. It also has three college-level comprehensive laboratories: The Comprehensive Computer Laboratory, The Comprehensive Medical Laboratory, and The Comprehensive Textiles and Arts Laboratory. The total value of the equipment amounts to approximately 90 million yuan. With a total floor space of 80,000 square meters and 89 full-time staff members of which 24 persons are at the level of Professor or Associate Professor, these laboratories have the capacity to perform over 1,100 experiments and 1,200,000 hours annually. |
| 1. Social Science and Humanities Training Center |
| The Social Science and Humanities Training Center is honored as “The Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Basic Courses in Institutions of Higher Learning in Zhejiang Province”. With a total floor space of over 5,000 square meters, it consists of 11 laboratories covering the areas of securities, futures, foreign exchange, ERP, E-commerce and accounting. The total value of the equipment amounts to approximately 10 million yuan in addition to over 17 million yuan in software assets. It can offer more than 380 experiments for over 80 courses. Upon completion of the center’s construction, it was awarded “The First-class Medal for Teaching Achievement in Zhejiang, 2004”. |
| 2. Bio-Chemistry Experimental Center |
| The Bio-Chemistry Experimental Center is the experimental teaching base for biological engineering and chemical engineering and is a key construction project for the University. It consists of 4 laboratories and 1 analysis and testing section with a total floor space of over 10,000 square meters. It is furnished with many sets of modern analysis and testing equipment resulting in reliable scientific data. It has been designed to meet teaching and scientific research needs in addition to other related enterprises. |
| 3. Engineering Training Center |
| The Engineering Training Center is in charge of the laboratory’s construction, management, and teaching for primary engineering technology majors at the University. It consists of 10 large-scale laboratories, 1 factory for work training on campus, and 1 innovative training center for students. Its advanced manufacturing laboratory has been recognized as a Jiaxing Municipal key laboratory. Its physics laboratory and electrical engineering & electron laboratory have been honored as “Qualified Laboratories for Basic Courses” by the education department of Zhejiang Province. The Center is preparing for the application for the honor of “Demonstration Center for Experimental Teaching of Zhejiang Province”. The construction was awarded “The Second Prize of Teaching Achievement in Zhejiang, 2004”. |
| 4. Comprehensive Computer Laboratory |
| The Comprehensive Computer Laboratory is in charge of the University’s basic computer courses, major computer courses and work training before graduation. It consists of 19 laboratories which hold over 900 computers with its total value of 15 million yuan. |
| 5. Comprehensive Medical Laboratory |
| The Comprehensive Medical Laboratory consists of the morphology laboratory, the functioning laboratory, the medicine laboratory, and the clinic & nursing laboratory. Its total floor space reaches approximately 15,000 square meters and its total value amounts to 20 million yuan. |
| 6. Comprehensive Textiles and Arts Laboratory |
| The Comprehensive Textiles and Arts Laboratory is the experimental teaching and specialty training base for majors of textile engineering, garment engineering, garment design, and garment making. It consists of 5 laboratories covering textile engineering, garment engineering and art design. It acts as a platform for research and experiments concerning textile, garment, applied physics, macromolecule material analysis, etc. |
