On the afternoon of Jun. 7, 2008, the 8^th lecture of the “Shiing-shen Lecture Hall” kicked off in Teaching No. 2. Prof. Qiu Zizha, Ph.D Supervisor of Huazhong Normal University, host of CCTV’s Baijia Platform, delivered an academic report titled “Tragedy and Ethos – Revelation from Wenchuan Earthquake”. From the perspective of tragedy and tragical spirit, Prof. Qiu narrated the kindheartedness, strong will and tolerance of our nation which was demonstrated during the Wenchuan earthquake. He regarded it as an omen of the modern transfer of the ethos. He further told us how to retain and carry forward this ethos gathered from disasters.
